A new mural project in downtown Phoenix aims to elevate the work of Latinx and Indigenous artists.
Self-taught artist Nyla Lee has painted several murals across downtown Phoenix. This year she added a work titled “Sisters” to the portfolio. The mural is on the side of New School for the Arts in Tempe.
Giovannie Dixon, also known as “Just,” had several murals go up in downtown Phoenix in 2020. One of his most prominent is a painting of Beyonce and Jay-Z at The Boom Boom Room, located at the intersection of McDowell Road and 16th Street. Dixon splits his time between Phoenix and Denver creating works inspired by Black culture.
