South Lansing needs growth tasks like U-Haul|Viewpoint

As a nearby realtor and resident of south Lansing, I know firsthand how blighted, abandoned properties have an affect on our neighborhood.

For the earlier three a long time, the vacant former Kmart residence situated at 5400 S. Cedar Street in Lansing has been a magnet for vandalism.

“Big Box” stores, like Kmart, have been closing at a fast pace, leaving driving huge buildings that sit vacant for years. Thanks to their dimension, it is turning into increasingly tricky to find vendors who are ready or equipped to occupy such a big footprint.

U-Haul is inquiring to create a local weather-controlled storage facility at the previous Kmart house on Cedar Avenue by its adaptive reuse initiative. The rezoning proposal prior to the town will redevelop this residence, getting what is now an eyesore and creating it effective after once more.
